** 3 RECIPES FOR YOU FROM HAVERHILL
BEEF **
Slow Cooker Pepper Steak
Prep Time: 15 Minutes
Cook Time: 3 Hours
Ready In: 3 Hours and 20 Minutes
Makes 4 Servings
Ingredients
2 pounds beef sirloin, cut into 2 inch strips
garlic powder to taste
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 cube beef bouillon
1/4 cup hot water
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1/2 cup chopped onion
2 large green bell peppers, roughly chopped
1 (14.5 ounce) can stewed tomatoes, with liquid
3 tablespoons soy sauce
1 teaspoon white sugar
1 teaspoon salt
Directions
1. Sprinkle strips of sirloin with garlic powder to taste. In
a large skillet over medium heat, heat the vegetable oil and
brown the seasoned beef strips. Transfer to a slow cooker.
2. Mix bouillon cube with hot
water until dissolved, then mix in cornstarch until dissolved.
Pour into the slow cooker with meat. Add onion, green pepper,
stewed tomatoes, soy sauce, sugar and salt.
3. Cover and cook on high for
3 to 4 hours, or on low for 6 to 8 hours.

Spicy Honey Mustard Pork Roast
Prep Time: 15 Minutes
Cook Time: 2 Hours
Ready In: 2 Hours and 20 Minutes
Makes 6 Servings
Ingredients
3 pounds pork roast
1/4 cup honey
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons black pepper
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme, crushed
1/2 teaspoon salt
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C). Score 1/2 inch
slits in your roast and place in baking dish.
2. Combine honey, mustard, pepper, thyme, and salt in small bowl;
mix until well blended. Brush mixture over roast, working well
into slits.
3. Bake roast in preheated oven for one hour. Remove roast from
oven and flip in pan. Brush remaining honey sauce over roast.
Return to oven and continue baking for 45 minutes to an hour
or until internal temperature reaches 170 degrees F (75 degrees
C). let stand for 15 minutes before slicing.

Bottom Round Roast and Vegetables
(made in slow cooker)
Prep Time: 25 Minutes
Cook Time: 6 Hours
Ready In: 6 Hours and 25 Minutes
Makes 6 servings
Ingredients:
3 pounds bottom round roast
ground black pepper to taste
garlic powder to taste
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
2 (10.75 ounce) cans condensed cream of mushroom soup
1 (1 ounce) package dry onion soup mix
5 carrots, chopped
6 small new potatoes, halved
Directions:
1. Season roast with ground black pepper and garlic powder. In
a large pot, heat the oil over medium heat. Brown the roast on
all sides for 20 minutes.
2. Mix together the mushroom
soup and the onion soup mix in the slow cooker. Place roast into
the slow cooker, and add carrots and potatoes. Turn roast and
vegetables over to coat with the soup.
3. Cover and let cook on low
for 6 to 8 hours. Stirring occasionally.

** COOKING TIP FROM HAVERHILL
BEEF **
QUESTION: How long should I cook
my pork roast?
ANSWER: The rule of thumb for
estimating cooking time for pork roasts is 25 minutes per pound
of meat at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). The safest and most
effective method to do this is to use a thermometer to read the
internal temperature of the roast. Roasts should be cooked until
meat is no longer pink inside and the meat thermometer reads
160 to 170 degrees F (71 to 77 degrees C).
NOTE: NEVER, NEVER LET YOUR CHILDREN
COOK OR GRILL UNSUPERVISED!
