** 3 RECIPES FOR YOU **

Buttermilk & Garlic Chicken Drumsticks

Prep Time: 10 Minutes
Cook Time: about 30 Minutes
Ready In: about 40 Minutes WITHOUT Marinating time
Makes 6 drumsticks

Ingredients:
6 chicken drumsticks bone in
1 cup buttermilk
1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 1/2 teaspoons grated lemon peel
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1 1/4 teaspoons salt, divided
1 1/4 teaspoons ground black pepper, divided
1 1/4 teaspoons ground red pepper, divided
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup canola oil

Directions:
1. In a rectangular baking dish, combine buttermilk, lemon juice, lemon peel, garlic, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon black pepper and 1/4 teaspoon red pepper.

2. Add the chicken drumsticks, turning to coat all sides with buttermilk mixture. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator at least 2 hours or overnight.

3. In a shallow dish, combine flour and remaining seasoning. Remove the chicken drumsticks from the buttermilk mixture, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge drumsticks in seasoned flour; let stand on a wire rack placed over waxed paper 20 minutes to set coating.

4. Preheat oven to 425 F.

5. Pour the oil into large, ovenproof skillet or shallow baking dish large enough to hold chicken in a single layer without crowding.

6. Carefully place the chicken drumsticks in the pan; place pan in oven; oven-fry 20-30 minutes until drumsticks are crisp and golden brown, turning carefully with tongs after 15 minutes.

Crock Pot Creole Blade Steaks

Prep Time: 10 Minutes
Cook Time: 7 to 9 Hours
Ready In: about 9 Hours
Makes 4 to 6 servings

Ingredients:
4 to 6 boneless blade steaks
1 medium purple onion, quartered and cut in 1/4-inch slices
Creole seasoning
3 tablespoons flour
1/2 teaspoon rosemary
3 tablespoons cold water
1 teaspoon gravy browning sauce
salt and pepper to taste

Directions:
1. Place sliced onions in the crock pot.

2. Sprinkle the boneless blade steaks with seasoning mixture; place in the crock pot on the onions.

3. In a mixing bowl, blend flour, rosemary, salt and pepper with the cold water; stir with a fork or small whisk until smooth. Add gravy browning sauce; spoon over the boneless blade steaks.

4. Cover and cook on low for 7 to 9 hours.

Old Fashion Beef Pot Roast With Vegetables

Prep Time: 15 Minutes
Cook Time: 3 Hours and 15 Minutes
Ready In: about 3 Hours and 30 Minutes
Makes 6 servings

Ingredients:
4 pounds boneless shoulder pot roast
1/4 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
dash leaf thyme
dash garlic powder
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon olive oil
3 cups beef broth
5 to 6 medium potatoes, peeled, quartered (about 1 1/4 pounds)
1 cup baby carrots
1 small turnips, peeled and cut in chunks
1 medium yellow onion, cut in chunks
1/2 cup red wine or more beef broth
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
3 to 4 tablespoons cold water

Directions:
1. In a food storage bag, toss the pot roast with the flour, salt, onion powder, thyme, garlic powder and black pepper.

2. Heat the oil in a Dutch oven or large saucepan; add the pot roast and brown on all sides. Add beef broth and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 2 1/2 hours.

3. Add 1/2 cup red wine or beef broth, along with the vegetables. Cover and simmer for 45 minutes longer, or until vegetables are tender.

4. Strain the juices into a saucepan and bring to a boil; reduce heat to a simmer. Simmer for 5 minutes. Combine 3 tablespoons flour with 3 to 4 tablespoons water and whisk to make a smooth mixture. Stir into the simmering broth, a little at a time, until thickened as desired.

5. Slice the cooked pot roast and arrange on a platter with the vegetables. Drizzle some of the gravy over the sliced beef and/or serve gravy on the side.
